Cafe Manager - Bright
CAFE MANAGER
About the role
Sixpence Coffee is on the hunt for an experienced Café Manager with a strong passion for coffee, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has fantastic customer service skills. This role would suit someone with managerial experience in a similar venue. However, applications from those with a solid barista/café background looking to take the next step in their hospitality career are welcome. The successful applicant will take a key role in the day-to-day operations of our popular coffee bar in Bright. Our front of house staff are the face of the business with customers returning time and time again not only for the coffee but for the familiarity and sense of care they experience.
Responsibilities
  • Partaking in, overseeing, and supervising day-to-day operations in the Coffee Bar
  • Work collaboratively with other personnel within the business and assist in recruitment for new front-of-house employees.
  • Ensure the daily service is run to a high standard consistently and efficiently. 
  • Manage stock control and inventory, staffing and wage costs (prepare rosters, assign specific duties)
  • Control and meet KPI's set by management through strong staff management.
  • Ensuring high standards and prescribed recipes are adhered to in the preparation and service of food and drinks.
  • Following cash management policies and procedures to ensure accountability of all money.
  • Identify and determine areas for cost reduction and improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with other personnel within the business and assist in recruitment for new front-of-house employees.
  • Manage staff performance, provide training to all staff, provide constructive feedback when required.
  • Encourage a supportive, positive, and fun workplace for all employees.
  • Inspire team members with a lead-by-example approach with a positive and energetic attitude.
  • Ensure the daily service is run to a high standard consistently and efficiently. 
  • Providing exceptional customer service to all customers
  • Fostering an environment of respect, collaboration, and teamwork within Sixpence Coffee
  • Completing weekly rosters
Experience
The successful applicant must have:
  • Experience in fast paced coffee shop environment with supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Ability to lead a team of staff while role modelling best practices
  • Passion for good coffee with a desire to learn more about origins, varietals, processes, and roasting procedures a plus
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Understanding of food preparation and safe food handling procedures
  • Friendly personality and the ability to develop positive relationships with staff and customers
  • Ability to manage time, provide direction and prioritise tasks

Cafe All-Rounders - Bright
CAFE ALL ROUNDER
We are seeking people passionate about coffee and customer service with the aspiration of becoming excellent baristas. Barista training will be provided for enthusiastic applicants committed to learning the craft.  Our roastery and coffee bars use great equipment with machinery from the likes of Probat, Kees van der Westen, Mazzer and more.
Experience and Attributes
  • Barista experience and understanding of brew ratios and espresso recipes or have a passion and willingness to learn
  • Confidence in dialling in grinders, espresso machine start-up and shutdown and latte art or have a passion and willingness to learn
  • Understanding of coffee types and alternative brewing methods
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Can take direction and immerse yourself in working as part of a brilliant team
  • Are approachable and able to engage in friendly conversation

Roasters Assistant
ROASTERS ASSISTANT
Sixpence Coffee Roasters is looking for a passionate Coffee Roaster/Roaster’s Assistant to join our team in the beautiful town of Bright, Victoria. If you’re enthusiastic about specialty coffee and want to be part of a dynamic, quality-driven roastery, this is the role for you!
What you’ll be doing:
  • Assisting in the day-to-day roasting operations, including roasting, cupping, and quality control.
  • Managing green inventory and ensuring efficient production processes.
  • Working closely with our head roaster to develop and maintain the perfect roast profiles for our café and wholesale partners.
  • Packing and preparing orders for dispatch.
What we’re looking for:
  • A passion for coffee and an interest in the craft of roasting.
  • Some experience in coffee roasting is desirable, but not essential - we’re happy to train the right person.
  • A keen eye for detail, an understanding of quality control, and an ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Bakers Assistant
BAKERS ASSISTANT
Sixpence Coffee Roasters is seeking a skilled and passionate baker to join our team in Bright, Victoria.
We’re looking for someone with kitchen experience and a passion for great food. While a strong background in baking and kitchen production is desirable, it’s not essential - we’re happy to train the right person as we continue delivering top-quality baked goods to compliment our coffee. 
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and bake a variety of baked goods for the cafe
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area
  • Work independently and efficiently, ensuring high-quality output
  • Follow recipes and adhere to production schedules and organisation
  • Monitor dough fermentation
Skills:
  • Proven experience as a baker/kitchen assistant
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques 
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
